BIM
Building Information Modelling — a 3D model whose elements carry data, not just geometry.
In a BIM model a wall knows it is a wall: its construction, fire rating, and cost can be queried and scheduled, and a change propagates to every drawing derived from it.
BIM and rendering answer different questions. BIM is the coordinated source of truth for what is being built; a rendering is an argument about how it will feel. A BIM view can be used as a rendering input, but the model is not itself a persuasive image.
