Segmentation mask
A selection that follows the outline of an object rather than a drawn shape.
A segmentation mask is produced by a model that identifies where one object ends and another begins, so selecting a sofa selects the sofa rather than a rough rectangle around it.
It matters for editing accuracy. A hand-drawn mask that overshoots an object edge will regenerate part of the floor or wall behind it, which is usually visible in the result.
